Capture and explain
Capture an area, a window, one display, or all your screens. Every successful capture is immediately ready to paste from the clipboard. Add arrows, text, highlights, and numbered steps. Move and rotate text, crop an image, or resize it to exact dimensions. For long pages, scroll the source yourself and add overlapping frames.
Keep the context
Save editable .trovucapture projects and checkpoints; older .trovu files still open. Organize original captures with titles, tags, and favorites. Index text locally to search for words inside your screenshots.
Build a walkthrough
Arrange captures into steps, add descriptions, and export a PDF, HTML page, or Markdown folder. Save an editable guide to continue later.
Use the text in your images
Extract text from an image or selected area, then copy or save it. Choose Translate in the results dialog on macOS 15+; Apple may download supported language models. Read QR codes locally and copy their contents without opening links.
Finish and share
Copy an image or export PNG, JPEG, TIFF, and PDF. Fit PDF exports to Letter or A4. Add solid or gradient backgrounds, image alignment, spacing, corners, and shadows only when you choose. Place text freely with the editor tools. White background removal strips edge-connected white margins; automatic removal uses Apple Vision subject detection with rectangle/edge fallback for cards and panels. Preserve transparency with PNG. Share expiring iCloud links from your own iCloud Drive, or pin images above other windows.
Your Mac, your workflow
No separate Trovu account is required. Purchases use your Apple Account; iCloud links require iCloud Drive and available storage. Set global capture shortcuts, choose a capture delay, and start in the menu bar or at login. Optional crash reporting can be disabled in Settings. Screenshot pixels and extracted text are not included in diagnostic reports.
