Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Trovu ("we", "us") covering the Trovu Mileage mobile app and trovu.app. By downloading or using the app you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
Who may use Trovu
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. Trovu Mileage is currently offered in the United States and calculates deductions using US IRS standard mileage rates.
Your account
You need an account to use the app. Keep your credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised. You can delete your account, and the data associated with it, from within the app.
Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
Trovu Mileage begins with a 14-day free trial. After the trial, continued use requires a paid subscription at $3.99 per month or $44.99 per year. There is no ongoing free tier.
Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings or in Google Play; cancelling stops future renewals and access continues to the end of the paid period. We cannot process refunds — refunds are handled entirely by Apple or Google under their policies. Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited if you purchase a subscription during the trial.
We may change prices. Changes apply to renewals after we give notice, and you can cancel before the change takes effect.
Location data and tracking
Automatic trip detection requires background location access. Tracking accuracy depends on your device, its operating system, location permissions, battery optimization settings, and signal quality — all outside our control. Trips may occasionally be missed, merged, split, or recorded with imprecise distances. Review your records before relying on them.
Your responsibility for your records
You are responsible for the accuracy of the mileage and expense records you submit. Trovu is a recordkeeping tool. Verify trips, classifications, distances, and totals before using them for a tax filing, reimbursement claim, or any other purpose.
Not professional advice
Trovu does not provide tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and IRS rates shown in the app are provided for convenience only. Consult a qualified professional about your circumstances.
Safe use while driving
Do not interact with the app while operating a vehicle. Automatic tracking exists so you do not have to. Obey all traffic laws.
Acceptable use
Do not reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the app or our servers; access the service by means other than the app; resell or redistribute it; upload unlawful or infringing content; or attempt to gain unauthorized access to another account.
Your content
Your trips, expenses, receipt images, and reports remain yours. You grant us only the limited licence needed to store, process, sync, and display that content in order to operate the service for you.
Our content
The app, its software, design, and the Trovu name and logo are our property and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app, and nothing more.
Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee it, and maintenance or outages may interrupt service.
Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms or that we reasonably believe is being used unlawfully.
Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that tracking will be uninterrupted, complete, or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or amounts arising from disallowed deductions, rejected reimbursements, penalties, or interest. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Apple and Google
These Terms are between you and Trovu, not with Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or for support, and they have no warranty obligation with respect to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of the app must also comply with the applicable app store's terms of service.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a revised date, and continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
