Microphone transcription, text translation, speaker analysis, summaries and spelling correction run on your Mac. Initial language and optional speaker-model downloads use the network. Trovu does not send audio or transcript content to a transcription service and does not include advertising or a Trovu account.
Saved transcripts, translations, summaries, tags and optional recordings stay in the local Library until you delete them. Temporary recovery checkpoints can contain text and audio. Store builds keep data in their macOS app container. Exports go to the location you choose; if that folder syncs through another service, that service’s settings apply.
Optional technical crash/error reports are sent to Sentry to help fix failures. Reports exclude transcript/summary text, audio, tags, speaker data, screenshots and personal identity. Turn reporting off in Settings → Diagnostics. Apple manages payment details; Trovu verifies StoreKit transactions and stores a local Keychain trial-clock value.
Deleting saved sessions in Library removes their data and recordings. Copies you exported elsewhere must be deleted separately. The app has no cloud transcript synchronization.
Permissions and downloads
macOS controls microphone permission. Revoke it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Apple supplies speech and translation assets. Optional speaker identification downloads verified model files from Hugging Face; that service receives the network request, not your recordings. Apple Intelligence must be available for summaries and spelling correction.
Diagnostics and third parties
Optional Sentry reporting includes technical crash and error data for app reliability. It does not attach recordings, transcripts, summaries, tags or screenshots. Trovu does not set a user identity or IP-address field on reports; network services can receive connection metadata required to deliver requests. Disable reporting in Settings → Diagnostics. Purchases and restore requests are handled by Apple under its privacy policy.
Your choices
Choose whether to retain text and audio, delete Library items, or export your own copies. The app does not sync your Library to a Trovu server. Copies deliberately exported to another app or a synced folder follow that service’s policies. This app policy does not describe unrelated Trovu apps.
